Nev's Boat

Nev’s Boat

Spotted this article in the Daily Mirror and local Wiltshire Gazette about Association Member Nev Cooper who seems to have ruffled a few feathers in a nearby village beauty spot.

Nev spent six months patiently building the two-foot long replica of the 1950s British Vosper RAF crash boat only to hit a bit of a barrier.

ps – do fill in on the on-line poll “should Nev be allowed to sail the boat on the pond?”

A well done to Trevor Paterson, a member of the Melksham branch of the Royal Air Forces Association who visited the National Arboretum in Stafford to attend a dedication of memorial stones and crosses at the Arboretum church and the Association Remembrance Garden.

Nine stones were dedicated, two of which were for past members of the Melksham branch, Gilbert Bourne and Mike Davey.

Association Membership – Web Listing Update

06 April, 2011

For all followers of this Blog who are signed up for the auto updates, a brief Post to say that the Association Web Site Membership Listing has now been updated.  Updating the web site can be a bit of a long and convoluted process as it requires me to Dial Up using a 56k connection, migrate records from an Access Database and a few more steps before the web page is refreshed, hence the gap between sessions. Also included at the top of the page is a link to a PDF formatted for a hard copy print out.

Any observations or feedback, please add a comment to this Post.

Armistice Dinner in Port Elizabeth

05 November, 2010

The Secretary’s in box had the following email from Graeme V Donald this week, he must have just read through the Minutes. He did express his regret at not being able to attend this years Reunion but sent this snippet that might be of interest.

It may be of interest for you to know that practically every year since 1919 we have held an armistice dinner in Port Elizabeth on 11th November, this year it will be at drill hall and I have been asked to give an after dinner talk on Victoria Cross awards which I look forward to, mostly dealing with RAF activity but just a mention of Charles Hazlitt Upham 2nd NZEF who was the only recipient of a double VC during WW2. I believe there have been only 7 recipients, 5 posthumous. C’est Le guerre.

Best regards, Graeme V Donald
