The Italian Defence Attaché is unable to attend in person but will be represented by an Italian Para officer, a Lt Col serving in UK on exchange with the British Army. OC 187 Regt (aka the “Folgore” – the Italian Parachute Regiment) hopes to attend but has not yet confirmed.

Programme timings are as follows:

10.15 – 10.30 Arrive main entrance to Station & proceed to HQ XXIV Sqn

10.30 – 10.55 Assemble in Sqn HQ for Coffee & Introductions

11.00 – 11.45 Service of Remembrance & Unveiling of Roll of Honour

12.00 – 14.00 Buffet lunch in Officers’ Mess

Please note: This is a formal occasion. Gentlemen should wear a jacket and tie. Many will no doubt wish to wear a Poppy. You should aim to arrive at the main entrance no later than 10.30.

Thank you so much for allowing us to attend the commemoration in your Squadron Headquarters yesterday, and also the very enjoyable lunch and ‘chat time’ afterwards in the mess.

I had left the Squadron by ’71 (being there from ’64 to ’68 following return from the Mk4 VIP Hastings at RAF Changi), but then afterwards as the DATCO at the RAF Thorney Island OCU, I do of course remember the names and faces involved.

Please also thank Flt Lt ‘Mike’ (tall/slim) who looked after us so well throughout the whole day.

    Kind Regards

Mr and Mrs Nev COOPER (Ex: MAEO)
