Ladies Guest Night – Menu and Format

Now that all the final numbers are in and last minute details are being sorted out, it should be a good time to let you know what is on the menu for the Ladies Guest Night in the Officers Mess on the 1st October and the format for the evening.

Smoked Fish Platter with Prawn Mousse

served with a granary roll & butter,

Pan Fried Duck Breast, glazed in Local honey & ginger.

Minted New Potatoes,

Selection of Garden vegetables.

A plated selection of continental cheese and biscuits, grapes & celery.

Coffee & Petit Fours

Our Deputy Chairman Sam Wright is an accomplished piper and will pipe us into dinner when the mess staff give the signal.  The dinner itself follows the customary RAF format, with the Association Chairman presiding.   At table, we start with Grace. If  a padre is present he will say the appropriate words but more often it is OC XXIV who either says Grace himself or nominates someone else to do it.  Someone is nominated from the Sqn to act as Mr Vice.   The Loyal Toast will be proposed in the usual way and drunk after the musicians have played the opening bars of the national anthem.

We will have a short comfort break after the toast(s) before speeches are made in the following order:

1.    Association Chairman

2.    Association President – concluding with toast to XXIV Sqn

3.    OC XXIV – concluding with toast to Association

  1. Timbo Pembrey Says:

    Dear Secretary,

Many thanks for the excellent choice of menu and format for the Ladies Guest Night at Brize on Sat 1 Oct.

I can’t wait to hear Sam Wright play the bagpipes – request that ear defenders be issued to guests but optional for ex ‘truckies’ for health and safety reasons!

    Kind regards
